Los vehículos de combustión interna todavía tienen para rato. Y tendré que seguirlos oliendo y oyendo en las ciudades.
Tan seguros como el chofer lo maneje:
1-si se lanza contra una pared a 100km/h seguro va a tener problemas
2- si gira en una curva cerrada a 140km/h seguro va a tener problemas
3- si frena repentinamente a alta velocidad en una autopista llena de carros por todos los lados seguro va a causar problemas
Ah, vamos ahora a los mitos:
1- “si cae un rayo te electrocutas”
2- “si pasas por un charco de agua te electrocutas”
3- “Si tocas el metal del auto mientras apoyas la otra mano contra el piso te electrocutas”
4-”Si hay un accidente y el auto se inflama y coge candela los bomberos se electrocutan”
Las 3 primeras: no, no es asi
la última: primero se inflama y se incendia un auto normal antes que el eléctrico. Y de ser así habrían miles de bomberos electrocutados por autos híbridos que igual manejan voltajes y baterías como los eléctricos, y llevan años de años en el mercado.
oh yes, when I arrived to Ecuador (August 1999) my then wife, after 5 days told me she didn’t want to continue living with me, so I was left alone in a country under a severe economic crisis.
I was alone, until i found a friend from the university. And I started working at a company that did not pay me for 6 months, I was living thanks to the savings I had before coming here. Oh, and I loaned the owner of the company all my savings (around 700USD, don’t ask me why I did it.. I just did it) except for a couple of hundred dollars. Ok, it was a country you could live (back then) with 40USD/month… but after 4 months I was having only 40USD… it was January 21th, 2000 and things were not getting better… that night the president was overthrown. So things, instead of getting better were going all way down, 40US, 6 months waiting for my payment, the person I lent the money was not paying.. and a government being overthrown, so in the next two or three months things will not improve, for sure!!: Change of ministers, directors.. all the government stopped, no new government contracts, maybe not payment for teachers, doctors, etc… things were turning very ugly.
And then… my stomach started, somehow to hurt.. lower right part of the abdomen. Don’t even think on seeing a doctor.. I just applied myself a mental medicine “it is not appendicitis, it is not, I’m OK, I’m OK, there is nothing bad”, etc, etc.
And then… the only person I knew, my friend from the university, the only that helped me on those times. he actually had appendicitis. I was soooo concerned: i had no money to help him… and he was the only person that used to help me… I was at the bottom of a very deep hole, no lights on sight, no nothing.
I cried, a lot, of course.. I was awake the whole night thinking on what I will do.. how to solve this situation.
But.. after you hit the bottom, the only way you could take is going back up again…
After 15 or so days my friend called me and told me he was offered to teach some 64 or 128 hours of a programming language I was using (I was programming back then) and asked me if I wanted to be the teacher for those 2 courses…. of course I said yes! it was 4 hours a day and every 3 hours of classes I was earning enough to pay a monthly rent… I started to think in terms of monthly rents… 128 hours=40 months of rent. Then after 2 or 3 weeks I got another offer from another university around the same hours and rate. After a month another offer from another university and suddenly I was overloaded with work… and man: that is nice… to suddenly have something to think on, to concentrate on, to expect some payment at the end of the month.. to start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Oh, I then met my current wife and she guided me on how to do things in the proper way, like for example recovering the money from the bastard that was my boss. After a few days I got a check from him to be payed in 30 days, back then if someone did not honor a check he will go to jail, for sure and for real. So I went to the bank, the account has no money, I then went to the police and bring an officer with me to the company. He shi**ed in his pants and in less than an hour I had my money!! Finally!

El que pasabas desapercibido y no venías a la gente señalandote por la calle. Ahora es tan aburrido que a cada rato te señalen y veas los labios “mira… un eléctrico”
At University (back in Cuba) the rice was served with maggots. It was around 1992_1997. A friend if mine waited for me to finish picking out the maggots and then asked “aren’t you going to eat them?”. When I said “no” he took them while saying : these are today’s protein … I will eat them.
I fully understood the lesson and never ever picked the maggots out of my rice while studying there.

Los autos no son los únicos que requieren de petróleo. Hasta para producir jeringas, vasos, cucharas, ropa, computadoras, celulares, lapiceros, etc, etc, etc, etc… necesitamos petróleo. Además del consumo eléctrico de otros dispositivos como tv, computadoras, bombillas o focos de iluminación, radios, cargadores de celular, camaras de seguridad, etc que se basan a veces en fuentes de generación basada en combustibles fósiles. Y qué decir del calentamiento de agua mediante calentadores de gas. Son muchas variables.
Los vehículos eléctricos pueden ayudar a reducir drásticamente el uso, eso sí, si se usan fuentes de energía no basadas en petróleo para cargarle, o que estas fuentes sean más eficientes que la eficiencia de los miles de motores de combustión interna que sustituyen los vehículos eléctricos que van a ser cargados por generadoras termoeléctricas.
Pero seguiremos generando energía basados en combustibles fósiles; y seguiremos produciendo ropa, cucharas, platos, computadoras, celulares y hasta los interiores de los autos que son basados en plásticos y los aceites que se requieren para los rodamientos, etc.
El uso de petróleo para diversos fines estará con nosotros por muchos años, aunque estimo que irá disminuyendo a medida que se implementen medidas de ahorro (antes usábamos bombillos incandescentes, luego lámparas fluorescentes, ahora lámparas basadas en led), antes los motores de combustión interna eran muy ineficientes, hoy hay diversas medidas para mejorar esa enorme ineficiencia, incluidas medidas de implementar modores híbridos…etc
Entonces se van viendo indicios en los que se busca sustituir la energía térmica (ya sea de generadoras eléctricas o de motores de combustión interna de los autos) pero, lógicamente, hacen falta muchísimos más esfuerzos.

It consists of a single letter and 6 numbers (for cars at the moment) or 5 numbers (for motorcicles) to the right. Ex: P 001898
This new convention does not differentiate between provinces (as before) and there is a small subset of background colors (in the past there were like 6 background colors meaning several things like if it was a diplomat car, private one, etc)
In the current definition the first letter corresponds to:
A – Government vehicles assigned to certain persons or duties
C, D and E : Vehicles for diplomats (I think D is for diplomat personel, C for consular and E for Specialists/foreign technicians).
M: Ministry of the interior (policial forces and other law enforcement forces)
F: Army (Fuerzas Armadas)
K: Foreign particulars (foreign persons, not specifically diplomats but for foreign residents in Cuba). K is not a common letter in Spanish and it is mostly used for foreign words, maybe this is the reason for the K for foreigners.
T: Tourism
All the other car types will be assigned with the rest of the letters. However I have noticed that the P is for cuban particulars (cuban private owners of the cars) and B is being assigned to state companies. The state owned vehicles will have a Blue background where the word “Cuba” goes. I guess as soon as they reach P 999999 probably a new letter will be issued for particulars. As well as probably when they reach B 999999 a new letter will be used for state companies.
For some unexplained reason (at least to me) I, O, Q, W, S and Z wont be used. I guess it is because I gets confused for a 1, and O and Q tend to be confused with 0.
Creo que dependió de la época, en mi caso estudié del 1980 la primaria hasta el 1992 el fin del bachillerato.
Durante la primaria no estudié otro idioma que el español
Durante la educación secundaria (3 años, llamada secundaria básica) estudié Español e Inglés. Pero sí recuerdo que un par de amigos estudiaron Ruso en vez de Inglés.
Durante los 3 años de bachillerato estudié Español, Inglés y Ruso, pero de Ruso eran solamente 2 horas a la semana creo. Y todos le tenían una mala voluntaaaaaad… lamento no haberlo estudiado con ganas, nunca está de más conocer otro idioma, pero bueno, así fue.
No tengo de que hablar con mis amigos: todos hablan de virus antivirus troyanos y uno parece antisocial ahí oyendo y sin poder hablar nada.
Tener que apretar control c y control v continuamente. Es tan lindo! Y Linux es tan vulgar. Con solo marcar ya copio y pego con el botón del medio. Claro que tiene esa compatibilidad que permite usar el anticuado ctrl c. Y Ctrl v
Trabajo 8 horas diarias. La cabrona maquina no se reinicia repentinamente ni deja de responder sin previo aviso y por tanto tengo que trabajar sin parar. Eso es capitalismo puro y duro. Hasta piedras en los riñones me salieron por olvidarme de ir al baño
No ando por sitios raros para bajar cracks de programas y contaminar mi máquina para correr algún programa sin pagar por su licencia.
No tengo el placer de reinstalar el equipo cada algunos meses , claro , poniendo cara de profesional preocupado y absorto en la instalación. Y luego no puedo andar por ahí quejándome de lo agotador de mi labor: he estado tooodo el día instalando Windows.
Ahora la parte sería: No se… llevo unos 15 años sin usarle en lo absoluto y no le extraño.
primero: que esto va a tomar mucho tiempo, muchas decenas de años posiblemente.
Luego de eso, se convertirán en estaciones de carga de autos eléctricos, quizá con grandes paneles solares para cubrir parte de la energía. O sino, sus dueños la reconvertirán en restaurantes (con puntos de carga en los parqueaderos) o farmacias o venderán el terreno.
Pero… esto ocurrirá a muuuuuuy largo tiempo pues los autos de combustión seguirán existiendo muchas decenas de años todavía
